'agam aevum' = to live (as an exile); Cipus states, that he rather lives as an exile than to become king of the Romans; reading this, one thinks of Caesar and, when I am not mistaken of, August, also, who both rejected the kingship, when offered; perhaps Ovid is hinting to this posture here. |
