Telegonus was the son of Odysseus and Circe. Years after Odysseus had come home to Ithaca, Circe sent Telegonus to find Odysseus. In various ways, depending of the source, Telegonus, not knowing it is his father, kills Odysseus. The Romans believed that he founded the city of Tusculum, to which this is a reference.
