Miror does mean <<be amazed>> but the correct forms are: miror, miraris, miratus sum, mirari. Such forms as <<mirare>> and <<miravi>> simply do not exist. In this epigram the word <<cani>> is not a form of the verb <<canere>>, but the dative singular of <<canis>>, which means <<dog>>. <<Libet>> means <<to like>>. It is not from the verb <<libare>>.
