Another example of a compendious comparison, this one from Horace Ode II.: ubi non Hymetto mella decedunt viridique certat baca Venafro, lit., where the honey(s) do not yield to Hymettus and the olive competes with green Venafrum. Hymettus, a mountain in Greece, noted for its honey; Venafrum, a town in Campania, which Pliny the Elder reported in his Natural Histories was the source of the best olive oil.
