Imperf. subj. expressing the apodosis of the conditional sentence in o.o. reported by Tacitus in historic sequence, the prodosis being in pluperf. subj.; in o.r. the prodosis would be "tenebitur," so in o.r. the condition is expressed, "qui emptitaverit, perinde poena (abl. of the punishment) tenebitur."
