The figure of speech is known as "syllepsis," word-yoking, using a word in successive clauses in different senses; here, "fortuna" means "fortune/property/means of subsistence" in the first phrase and as implied in the second "<fortuna> diurni quoque victūs" (gen. sing. of 4th decl. noun), "the chance/opportunity of daily livelihood, food."
